Signing in San Bernardino County
Real property documents are recorded by the San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk in the city of San Bernardino. Notarizing and recording are two different steps.
Mountain and desert signings (Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, Victorville, Hesperia) often mean a winter road or a long drive. Say which side of the pass you are on so we route locally.
Hospital signings come up at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton. Warehouse and logistics workers on shifts are a big evening and weekend crowd.
Timing
Shift workers: give us the window you are actually off, including overnight-shift mornings. Plenty of notaries work early.
What to bring
- A current, government-issued photo ID for every person signing (driver's license, state ID or passport). No ID is the most common reason a signing gets cancelled.
- The complete, unsigned document. Don't sign ahead of time; you sign in front of the notary.
- Any blanks filled in except the signature. A notary can't notarize a document with empty fields.
What it costs
California caps the notary's fee for an acknowledgment at $15 per signature, and $15 for an oath or affirmation with a jurat (California Government Code §8211, text, checked 2026-09-29). Section 8211 doesn't set travel fees, so a mobile notary's travel charge is separate. Agree on it before the appointment.
